Madeline Island Ferry Line
When planning your travel arrangements it is important to note that the ferry to Madeline Island operates on a set schedule every half hour in the summer. Typically, it does not operate before 6:30 am or after 10 pm. Reservations are not required. For a complete schedule and rates please visit the Madeline Island Ferry Line website. MISA is located1.5 miles from the ferry dock.
If you are a pilot, Madeline Island has a small airport. For commercial flights we recommend Duluth International Airport (DLH), which is the closest Regional Airport (approximately 90 miles from Bayfield, WI). It is serviced by Delta, United and Allegiant Air and all major car rental agencies.
Delta offers non-stop daily flights to Minneapolis and Detroit; United has non-stop daily flights to Chicago; and Allegiant offers flights to Las Vegas, Phoenix and Orlando.
Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport is the closest major airport, approximately 230 miles from Bayfield and a 4 hour drive.
Duluth Airport Shuttle
MISA offers airport pick-up and departure service to Duluth International Airport. If you are planning to use the shuttle service, please call the Registrar at 715-747-2054 to find out current rates. We can also help you coordinate your flight reservations.
Shuttle arrangements must be made with our office no later than three weeks in advance of the course date.
Our shuttle service picks up at the airport at 3 p.m. on Sunday (the day before the class starting date) and will deliver you directly to your room on the Island. The shuttle departs for Duluth mid-day Friday and early Saturday morning. Pick-up and departure times are flexible, but it is important to provide our office with your flight information.
