Class Description:

Desert Photography: Making the Landscape Your Own

Many photographers draw inspiration from nature, but this is not a “nature photography” workshop. This workshop moves you beyond making pretty pictures to discovering your own voice – and making the landscape your own. Have you ever wondered why some photographers produce consistently exceptional work, in spite of the fact that we all use the same tools (cameras, light, and computers)? Would you like to understand the magic necessary to transform what’s in front of the camera into a stunning photograph?

This workshop is grownup play-time for photographers.  We'll make new friends, new pictures, and work on whatever the next step is for each of us, technically and aesthetically. We'll photograph the spectacular Tucson desert and then process our pictures on the computer and learn to create stronger, more striking images. (Possibilities for field trips include the night sky, Mt. Lemmon, the Sonora Desert Museum, Old Tucson Movie Set and, of course, Tanque Verde Ranch.)

Jean “Gino” Miele will share his photographic secrets, help you figure out what’s missing from your pictures, and teach you the Photoshop, Lightroom and shooting techniques you need to take your work to the next level. Join us for this special workshop, and develop the skills that transform your photographs to match your inner vision. Learn something new – about photography, and about yourself.

Prerequisite: This course is for intermediate to advanced photographic practitioners who are comfortable with both camera and computer.
