Cold Wax imparts translucency and depth to oil paintings and creates a textural surface when combined with dry pigments. This is the opportunity to work with Nicki Heenan, a lead artist in Cold Wax landscape painting. In this workshop you will learn how to use specific tools to manage and manipulate cold wax. A number of techniques will be demonstrated with respect to the control and application of the medium which you can then experiment with yourself and explore its possibilities.
Further more, cold wax medium can be enhanced by the addition of dry pigments to obtain dynamic surface and texture in paintings, this also will be covered as part of the course.
Painting on location the aim is to create paintings that communicate atmosphere and depth through the addition of cold wax medium and pigments to your oil paint. There will be onsite demonstrations and time for you to complete your own work with a group discussion at the end of each session.
