In this 4-day gouache workshop with the 4th day for self-exploration you will discover a strong understanding of natural color and lighting. Learn how it is an important asset to any environment artist or fine art painter. The first three days Mike will cover the important fundamentals of composition design, color relationships, staging the light, atmospheric perspective, simplification and shape design through the use of gouache (students are welcome to use acrylic if desired). The fourth day students will self-explore the techniques they learned earlier in the week. This is a great workshop for anyone interested in painting and would like to learn how to capture a rich sense of natural lighting and color into their artworks. The southwestern desert landscape will be the perfect palette.
Day one will start with an in-classroom full lecture on all of the fundamentals mentioned above followed by an in-class demo and individual painting in and around the studio.
Days two and three will be a full days painting on-location. Locations to be determined.
Day four is independent exploration.
