There are no shortcuts to hard work, but there is no reason to not avoid common pitfalls. In this weekend workshop learn the tricks of a seasoned artist. Uma will work with students to make a reduced but versatile palette+brush set, offer systems to avoid blotchy watercolors, explain the basics of color mixing and provide the tricks behind using limited water to prevent a muddy painting.
An extended lunchtime between the morning and afternoon session will allow students to practice skills learned in the morning before afternoon session begins. Uma places a high premium on technical skill as well as mental skills and will share both for a wholesome plein-air or in-studio experience. Students are encouraged to make notes during the class to hone their skills for their personal practice.
Meet and greet gathering on the Friday before the workshop will allow students to get to know their fellow classmates and Uma Kelkar. Once enrolled, students will receive detailed instructions on how to access the workshop through Zoom. Technical support will be available 72 hours before the start of the workshop.
