Born in Yorkshire, England, Philippa discovered a love of sewing and knitting as a child. Trained as a clothing designer she worked in industry as a lingerie designer before setting up her own bespoke wedding and evening dress business. She began her quilting career in 1996 when she was living in Saudi Arabia.
Curved piecing, use of bright hand-dyed fabrics and extensive free-motion machine quilting are hallmarks of Philippa’s work. She has won many top quilting prizes including the Pfaff Award for Machine Artistry at the International Quilt Festival, Houston in 2007 and 2008, the Bernina Workmanship Award in 2002 and 2009, and ‘Best of Show’ with ‘Lime Light’ at the 2003 American Quilters Society show in Kentucky. Three of her quilts are now housed in the collection of the USA’s National Quilt Museum in Paducah KY, and she is the only non American to have more than one work in this collection.
Philippa published her first book “Quilting In The Limelight” in 2008. Her second book ‘Applique Mastery’ was published in 2014.
In 2004 after living in Saudi Arabia for 15 years Philippa and her family returned to Yorkshire, driving home - a journey of 10,000 miles across twelve countries over nine weeks.
As well as teaching a wide range of quilting and clothing classes worldwide, Philippa enjoys working in her home, garden and studio. email@example.com
